Considering the rate of technological development, it’s no surprise how fast some industries have revolutionized within a couple of decades. Since the early 21st century, the telecom industry has been riding on high tides of tech revolutions. Generally, telecommunication is mostly associated with technologies including telephone, emails, fax machine, and radio; the ways of communication. Each innovation in the domain brings another wave of real-time connectivity leading towards globalization.

The telecommunications industry has seen exponential growth within the last couple of years across all regions and this has given rise to the demand for efficient billing systems.

Today the world is on the eve of a new technological revolution in wireless networks. The expected launch of the fifth generation of cellular communication (fifth generation or 5G) is closely related to the development of no less than the breakthrough phenomenon of recent years – the Internet of Things (IoT). Both of these concepts can dramatically change business and society, providing each with unique opportunities for interaction between smart devices. So what is the future of the 5G & IoT?

IoT Now - M2M and Industrial IoT (IIoT)

On the back of this development in connectivity for vehicles will come other business opportunities which will add to the demand for traffic on this network. The research agency Technavio prepared a report on the market for the machine to machine (M2M)-services, defining them as Value Added -services for operators. The scope of the research included all world markets except for those in European countries. “According to Technavio, in 2021 M2M-services will earn $38 billion(€32.37), and the average annual growth of the market will be 41% with the following growth”, says Suren Arustamyan, COO at JeraSoft for IoT Now Magazine.

Built-in SIM-cards are already used in IoT gadgets and in tablets, but smartphone manufacturers are still wary of the novelty. IHS’s ¹ analysts claim that by 2019 top-3 smartphone manufacturers will start producing their latest models in an eSIM version. However, second and third-tier manufacturers will be pioneers in this field.  According to IHS, the amount of eSIM will increase from 108.9 million in 2016 to 986 million by 2021. So what is the trend? And how does it work?

Analytical agency Juniper Research studied the market for automotive telematics and found out that in 2017 more than 150,000 cars will be sold with V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) communications systems built in. This technology is not just about traditional connected cars that only consume data from the network. Also, it is about those machines – M2M, that can communicate with each other.

The quality of any system is determined by the quality of its architecture and technologies used. Most often, it is in this area that the main problems of self-written solutions lie, however, in the billing series there are design errors. This is what you should pay attention to when evaluating the architecture of a system and the system from inside.

iot tech news - Five Major Aspects of Poor IoT Security

The security market for the Internet of Things (IoT) will reach $37 billion by 2021, according to the analysts at MarketsandMarkets.com. Because there is growing demand for cybersecurity, there is a lot of money spent to ensure it. Noteworthy, that at the start of 2017, experts predicted that gaping holes in IoT would lead to the destruction of critical infrastructure and the growth of competitive intelligence. Additionally, predicted that an increase in DDoS attacks would paralyze the Dyn DNS system and, with it, many important web domains. With that in mind, it’s worth looking at five major aspects of the poor IoT security featured at IoT Tech News.
